EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT FACIAL CLEANSERS

Welcome back to Halsadiya Beauty Blog 🖤

Last few weeks have been so crazy for me, how are you all doing out there?

The blog title says it all; “Everything you Need to know about Facial Cleansers”. Facial Cleansers refers to a product that cleans, removes dirts, grime, makeup, dead skin cells and other types of pollutants from the skin of the face.

Facial cleanser is essentially the foundation for your skin care routine. Before you apply your facial toner, serum, moisturizer, eye cream, and makeup, you’ll want to cleanse your complexion to help remove dirt and impurities from the surface of your skin. Cleansing the facial skin should be an easy task to accomplish, but a lot of people are doing it wrong – or not at all. What kind of facial cleanser should you use? How many times should you cleanse? There are so many cleansing products with each offering different benefits. It’s okay, I’m here to break down the various types of facial ceanser you’ve always wanted.

■ TYPES OF FACIAL CLEANSERS

1. GEL CLEANSERS: Gel cleansers are clear and, as the name suggests, have a gel-like consistency that provides a smaller amount of foam and a milder cleanse. Gel cleansers are designed for deep cleansing, they are effective at decongesting clogged pores, removing excess oil and killing acne-causing bacteria, thanks to their antiseptic and exfoliating properties. These cleansers are recommended for those with combination and oily skin.

The Corsx Low pH Good Morning Cleanser is a great and effective cleanser to try out, formulated with salicylic acid, tea tree oil, botanical ingredients and allantoin to deep clean and soothe, making it perfect for those with acneic skin. Plus, its low pH which means it won’t disrupt your skin’s natural barrier.

2. CREAM CLEANSERS: Cream cleansers are usually thick, creamy, very moisturizing, and non-sudsy. Some cream cleansers don’t require water and are instead applied and then wiped away with a clean tissue. A typical example is the Pond’s Cold Cream formulated with water, occlusive ingredients like petrolatum and beeswax, or mineral oil.

3. OIL CLEANSERS: Oil cleansers work on an ‘oil attracts oil’ basis, absorbing impurities and nourishing the skin,” says dermatologist Francesca Fusco.

Oil cleansing is also part of a multiple-step cleansing process to get the “best clean” you can. Most makeup wearers like to cleanse with oil to remove product and dirt, followed by another cleanser to soak up excess oil and remove anything left behind.

Oil cleansers is suitable for all skin types. One oil cleanser I’ve tried is the Banila Co Clean it Zero Cleansing Balm and it’s pretty awesome. A quick review on this

This best selling K-beauty cleansing balm comes in a solid, sherbert form that melts into an oil-type cleanser when it comes into contact with skin, going deep into pores to pull out oil and grime while dissolving stubborn makeup and sunscreen. It’s formulated with Bamboo extract, Acerola, Raspberry leaf, Vitamin E and more botanical ingredients.

It melts into a warm, gentle oil cleanser as it’s massaged onto skin. When you rinse it off with lukewarm water, the oil emulsifies into this thick, velvety foam you’ll just want to massage gently over your skin, and, as you dry your face, you’ll be amazed at how soft and supple and clean your skin feels. This is definitely a must have for all 😍😍

4. FOAM CLEANSERS: Foam cleansers are lightweight cleansers that start out as cream or gel and burst into a rich, foamy lather (hence the name). This type of cleanser removes excess oil as effectively as gel cleansers. They are ideal for removing oil and layers of makeup.

They’re usually suggested for oily and acne-prone skin types since they are meant to deep clean the skin by getting rid of excess oil and sebum, as well as work to uproot any debris stuck in your pores, helping to keep your skin clean and refreshed.

5. Micellar Water: Originating in France, micellar waters feature “micelles”—or tiny oil molecules suspended in soft water—that attract oil, dirt and makeup. This micellar water for all skin types effectively cleanses, removes makeup, and refreshes skin. Like a magnet, micelles capture and lift away dirt, oil and makeup without harsh rubbing. Unlike a typical cleanser, you don’t have to rinse it off with water.

Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water is one of the best selling Micellar Water. I’m gonna try this out soon

6. Clay Cleansers: Known for their absorbing power, clay cleansers purify your skin by drawing out excess oil and toxins from your pores.

Biore Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser is a highly recommended clay cleanser. Ideal for oily and combination skin types

7. Bar Cleansers: These new breed of bars—some contain very little soap, others have none at all—are just as skin-friendly and luxurious as their liquid counterparts. They also offer more skin-friendly pH levels in addition to nutrient-rich, highly moisturizing ingredients, such as glycerin and essential oils. Recommended for oily and combination skin types.

Few examples of bar cleansers areShea Moisture African Black Soap, Cetaphil Gentle cleansing Bar and Herbivore Botanicals Blue Clay Soap Bar.

RIGHT WAY TO CLEANSE YOUR FACE.

Everyone has different opinions about how often you should wash your face. Guess what? Forget bout that and listen to your skin. Some skin types can benefit from a twice-a-day, morning-and-night cleansing routine to control excess oil and shine, while the same routine can make others dry and tight. Weird right?

I’m not a dermatologist or beauty consultant yet, I’m just a beauty blogger who has a beauty routine and healthy skin. Well, I’m here to guide you on how to cleanse your face properly

#1. Always remove your makeup if you are wearing one. Use facial wipes or Micellar Water to clean up your makeup. Except you are planning to double cleanse.

#2. Do not attempt cleansing with those dirty hands. Mmn-hmmm girl, don’t try it at all. Before cleansing your skin, wash your hands, that way you can help avoid transferring bacteria from your fingers to your face.

#3. Wet your hands and splash your face with water before applying the cleanser to your skin. Do not forget your neck when cleansing.

#4. Be kind to your skin. Do not scrub harshly when cleansing your skin. With the tip of your fingers, gently massage your facial cleanser onto your skin.

#5. Do not rinse too quickly. Massage the face wash on damp skin with gentle circular motions instead of quickly rinsing it off. Especially do allow 30 to 60 seconds before washing off to allow the product work effectively

#6. Get to know your skin type, so as to avoid using the wrong facial cleanser. Don’t use a cleanser for dry skin if you have a oily or sensitive skin type. What works for one person may not necessarily be the best option for someone else

#7. Rinse your face thoroughly with lukewarm water and apply moisturizer before your skin gets dry.

According to the American Academy of Dermatology, the best time to apply moisturizer is when your skin is still damp after cleansing.

CLEANSING TRENDS

– Double Cleansing: Removing every last bit of sunscreen, makeup, dirt and other gunk at the end of the night is extremely important since skin repairs and regenerates itself while you snooze. The art of double cleansing involves using a cleansing oil on dry skin, and following up with a water-based face wash to leave skin perfectly clean and clear before bedtime.

– Oil Cleansing: Oil cleansing has gained more popularity than ever in the last couple of years due to its many benefits. Cleansing skin with oil can help combat acne, dryness, wrinkles, sensitivity and leave your complexion feeling radiant and glowing. While it may not be for everyone, I think it’s worth a trial!

– Micellar Water: In a pinch? Cleanse your skin and remove ALL makeup without a sink in sight. Just soak a cotton pad with some of this solution and swipe your way to clean skin!

Bottom line:
Trying to find the best cleanser can be a struggle given that there are so many options on the market but hopefully by understanding how each one works it will help you to narrow down your search! Don’t feel limited by one particular cleanser category either as the formula is also extremely important. At the end of the day, it’s all about ingredient lists and personal preference so you can choose what works for you – Soko Glam
