Hello beauties, how are you all holding up?
Preparing for natural hair wash day is stressful as you all know. And it’s probably not on some of us favourite list. It’s gets harder as your hair grows, like more volume, length etc. But adjusting to a suitable hair regime/routine is better so as to meet the needs of your hair.
I tried a different method in washing my hair, which is washing in twists and it’s really nice and stress free. I’ve watched couple of YouTube girl’s washing their hair in sections (either braids or twists), but It never occurred to me to try it out till now. I’m glad i tried it out as I am incorporating it into my hair regime.

After I loosened my protective style, I made my hair myself in like 20 twists, I didn’t plan washing my my hair twists if not I would have made like 10 twists. Well well, I did prepoo my hair in twists overnight with coconut oil and my homemade carrot oil. The next morning, I washed my hair in twists using Hair wonder black shampoo, then went on with conditioning using my Creme of Nature Coconut milk conditioner. I rinsed thoroughly so as not to leave any residue in my twists. I also tried the resetting method using green tea rinse and raw egg. After I rinsed out the conditioner, I did a green tea rinse for about 3-5 mins and wrapped my hair in a cotton T-shirt to reduce water from draining around. Below is a picture of my hair after green tea rinse.
Then, I went ahead to apply whisked raw egg to my hair ( scalp & ends). Note that my hair was still in twists, I used eggs as protein deep conditioner and left it for about one hour before I rinsed thoroughly. I dislike the smell of raw eggs tho. Pictures after rinsing out are below:
I definitely love this method of washing hair in twists or braids for some reasons below;
- It allows direct access to the scalp for proper cleansing. I could feel my scalp was pretty clean.
- It reduces the chances of hair breakage. It detangles well.
- It makes your hair easier to style. You could take those hair per sections and retwist or braid or thread them instead of spending time sectioning your hair again.
- It saves time and it’s stress free.
- It reduces shrinkage. Your hair wouldn’t shrink as much as it would when it’s not in twists.
If you are going to try incorporating this inti your regime, ensure that you rinse out thoroughly from scalp to the root of the twists so as not to leave product residue in your hair. And also take note, that you twist your hair properly so as not to allow the weight of water unravel your twists.
My hair is 14″ 💃💃💃💃. Patience is key. Growth 💪. I made cornrows as my protective style this week 😊😊
I hope you did enjoy this post 💋💋❤
